Message I'd almost suggest you go a bit smaller. No one ever has the balls to say it nowadays, but smaller turbos are a blast to drive day in and day out and they are quicker up to certain speeds. Really, how often are you doing over 90mph on a day to day basis?

Now, I have to make some assumptions based on what you want. You want 400RWHP reliably, a streetable daily driven car and you want it to be somewhat inexpensive (we always want the cheapest we can get without sacrificing quality, right?). That being said, you can't go wrong with either of the listed turbos but I think you could do even better with JWT Sport 500s. I know, I know...they are "old" turbos in that they've been around a long time but believe me when I tell you, they are reliable and are good up to 450RWHP with supporting modifications. Not to mention they will almost always out accelerate both of the turbos you mentioned and cost less (surely less than the 530s, not sure how much less than the PEs).

The biggest things these turbos offer is spoolup and reliability. Basically we've seen multiple 100,000 mile plus cars on Sport 500 turbos. We've also seen many produce 450RWHP and we've also had some deep into the 11s (if dragging is your thing at all). Admittedly, the other two mentioned turbos are too new to have those kinds of stats, but you can't go wrong with a good history. To me, that is the most important statistic...a good track record. I've researched turbos right and left nearly every week for the last year and a half and let me tell you, there are a TON of good choices out there today but very few have the pedigree AND the performance the Sport 500s have. The HKS line and some of the other JWT turbos come close in my opinion, but these turbos are the safest bet out there if you don't need a 500RWHP monster.

If you're the kind of guy that just has to have the big name, biggest power, newest things out there, they are not for you. Some people might even think they are too small...but these people haven't been in a Sport 500 car with all the best bolt-ons. Ask the guys who have some of the quickest Zs out there. Seb, Greg D., Dr. Dean, etc. They'll all tell you about Mark Leader or TTNut and their sick daily-driven Sport 500 cars.

This is how I feel anyway. I want to keep this car for a decade and if I can go 4-5 years with one of the quickest street cars that can be had for under $100,000, a Sport 500 powered Z can be that car. I dare anyone to challenge that :)
